Truth, Truth, Lie

Basically, I stole this from Tina's blog:

"Basically, I'm going to write several truths about myself with a few lies mixed in. You have to guess which ones you think are truths and which are lies in the comments. I'll be sure to post how many there are of which, and then I'll post another blog entry with the answers to see who came closest. It's just for fun and to see what you do (or don't) know about me! When you're done guessing, if you dare, you should try it on your blog, too!"
Here we go...

1) I have lived in 5 different states.
2) My favorite color is blue.
3) I am a registered Boy Scout.
4) I am 27 years old.
5) I am a freshman in college.
6) If you ask me a question, I could (and probably would) answer in song.
7) I can play the piano.
8) I am highly allergic to pets of any kind.
9) I have one tattoo.
10) I love any version of the movie 'Pride and Prejudice'.
11) I am engaged.
12) I like to sew in my spare time.
13) I have been in several car accidents that were all my fault.
14) I drive a car that's older than I am.
15) I have sung songs in Italian, German, Latin, German Latin, and English.
16) I hate math, although I'm fairly good at it.
17) I was named after Queen Elizabeth.
18) Although I was born in Provo, UT and grew up there, I would never go to BYU even if I was offered full tuition.
19) I know how to do HTML and CSS.
20) I like green beans.

There are 8 lies. The rest are truths...choose wisely!

"Who are you and who am I?"

"I guess I’ve come a long ways and I don’t even know it
I guess I’ve seen a lot of days and I don’t know how to show it
It seems people come and people go
But somehow I gotta get on with the show
It’s all the same
I hope I don’t blow it

Who are you and who am I?
It’s hard to say sometimes
How am I supposed to fly?
I really don’t know, do you?
Who are you and who am I?
It’s hard to try when I’m so down
Who am I?"

This song really speaks to me lately. I guess it's because I really don't know WHO I am and WHAT I really want to do with my life. I'm in school right now in part of the music program here, and after a semester and a half, I've decided it's not for me. Don't get me wrong, music is WHO I AM, but the program here is NOT what I want to be doing right now. This program is making me dislike music instead of loving it more, which is NOT what I want by a long shot. I've decided that after this semester is over, I'm pretty much going to transfer to a different school and try something else. Anyone who knows me knows that I like to mess around on my computer, so I'm going to try my hand at a Comp Sci degree. If that doesn't work out, I might try to Comp Design program. All I know is I have to find something that is right for ME, not what anyone else THINKS is right for me, or WANTS me to be or do. I'm too old to care about what other people want from me or think I should be doing with my life. It's MY life!

Make My Day

Sorry, I missed this TFT, so I'll post it now.

Today's Thought: Make my day!
Suggested Guidelines: Share what would make your day today, a memory of a time that someone made your day unexpectedly, or talk about a time when you secretly made someone else's day.
Optional Restriction: Don't include anything having to do with money or purchasing something in your response.

So pretty much anyone that knows me KNOWS that I am totally infatuated with anything music related. I like to listen to music, participate in music, share music, encourage music, everything! So of course, you'd have to know that my part of making someone's day would have to do with music. I like to make CDs with songs that mean something to me and hand them out to friends to introduce new music to the people that mean a lot to me. I also like to make CDs of music for people that totally aren't expecting it, just to see a smile on their face, because to me, music is happiness! (Dorky, I know...)

Expressive Me: Who Are You?

"Welcome to our first Expressive Me Prompt. I hope that these weekly prompts will give you a creative outlet, grow a closer bond with others, and give you a chance to explore who you are and how you feel... but more importantly, how you express that feeling."

So as I sit here deciding what to write about this week's prompt, I am trying to figure out just what makes me who I am. Is it because I'm a student? A lover of music? A good listener? Well, here's a graphic I put together to help me explain myself. Don't laugh, as I know it's a jumble of a bunch of things, but it will hopefully all make sense when I'm finished. (then you have my permission to laugh! )

As you can see, there is music...EVERYWHERE! And not all of it neat, or pretty, or even in any sensible logical organized way either. This is the same in my life. Music has always and WILL always be a HUGE part of my life. It's not always pretty, or organized, but it will always be a part of "Who I Am". I love music of all kinds, of all flavors, countries, tone colors, varieties, tempos, genres, and forms. I am fascinated by theory, harmony, rhythm, and texture.

"I'm a music major, I have no life!" The understatement of the YEAR! Although I really don't have much of a life beyond learning new music, studying counterpoint composition, attending required concerts (or Convo/convocation, as our school calls them), practicing until I'm hoarse, or goofing around in the veg pit with other music students, I LOVE it. I wouldn't give it up for the world. I might complain about not having any time, but in reality, I am choosing to study music because it is my one passion that won't let me down unless *I* don't give it my all.

Yeah, you've probably noticed that Josh is on there too...well although I've never met the guy, and I wouldn't particularly say he's a HUGE part of my life in general, his music has helped me a number of times. Not just from a musical standpoint either, but emotionally and mentally as well. When I'm having a bad day, I just put on some Josh, and my worries drift away. It's amazing! Also, I've met a LOT of good friends through this dude...his fans are amazing, compassionate, and giving...a lovely group of people!

Anyway, that is me...the music student who doesn't have enough time for much except MUSIC (oh, and occasionally a silly chat with my sisters!).
